The 2015 Winter Heat Series kicks off this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, but turning right will be missing from this year’s eight-race series.
In past years, the Winter Heat Series would split race dates between the CMS fifth-mile oval, inside road course, and front stretch quarter-mile oval. However, the fifth-mile oval was removed off the schedule for safety reasons as many parts of the track have sunk due to shifting of the ground. This year, officials have removed the road course races from the schedule, giving drivers eight races on the front stretch quarter-mile oval, the same track the Summer Shootout Series takes place on during the summer months.
Race dates are January 10th, 11th, 18th, 31st, February 7th and 8th with practice on Friday prior to the race weekends. Each division will run double features twice within those six race dates on a to-be-determined basis to equal eight races per division.
