NORTON, OH : In a time and age when race teams are losing places to go race, there comes some good news out of Ohio. After being shut down for almost two years, the track formerly known as Barberton Raceway Park has a new ownership group and name. Mike Mazzagatti, along with his brother Patrick have purchased the facility and changed the name to Barberton Speedway. Mazzagatti is a long time racer of the track and comes from a family of racers.
Buckeye Legends operator Dennis Knox has been a dealer for 10 years for INEX in the Ohio/PA region. After the track closed they moved operations to Lake Erie Speedway, the home of the 2013 INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals. However, that facility ceased operations in 2015 and Buckeye Legends was once again without a home track, until now with the reopening of Barberton Speedway.
With the initial intention of reopening to a full season of racing in 2016, the Mazzagatti’s have put together an early event in 2015 to christen the newly opened race track.
On the weekend of September 25th-27th, Barberton Speedway will host the 1st Annual Cavalcade. Among the schedule of events includes U.S. Legend Cars/INEX National Qualifier races for both Legend and Bandolero race cars on Saturday September 26th.
For any questions regarding the event contact Dennis Knox at Buckeye Legends (330) 310.9212.
