CONCORD, NC : The 2015-16 Winter Heat Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway kicked off the season on the brand new 1/5th mile behind the backstretch of the big track. Over the fall, CMS and USLCI tore up the old worn down 1/5th mile track and decided to level the surface and repave it with new asphalt. Saturday, December 12th was the first of four events scheduled to take place between this weekend and the end of January. The other four events will take place on the road course inside the 1.5-mile oval which was also repaved during this past summer.
Dillon Faggart took the Pro feature win and as a result was the first winner on the reborn track. Mark Green (Masters), Tyler Truex (Semi-Pro), Austin Green (Young Lions), Daniel Wilk (Outlaws), William Robusto (Bandits) and Stanley Hayes (Beginner Bandolero) also took home the feature wins on Saturday afternoon.
The next event on the 2015-16 Winter Heat calendar is Saturday, January 9th and Sunday, January 10th on the road course. Practice is scheduled for Friday January 8th.
