Believe it or not it is already Mid-April and the racing season has moved into full swing for the 2016 season. Several tracks will try for a second time this weekend to get their season underway after being rained out prior.
This weekend there is a full slate of action from across the country on both Friday and Saturday evening, and even a couple Sunday shows. Some special events are also taking place and we highlight everything below in a breakdown of “What you need to know” about this weekend.
Friday, April 15th :
Raleigh, NC :
After being forced to cancel their initial season opener scheduled two weeks ago, “America’s Favorite Bullring” officially opens its season tonight with a full racing card on tap.
Wake County Speedway may not have the largest car counts, but they put on some of the best racing there is on one of the smallest tracks.
The Legends and Bandoleros will both be in action on the Bullring track with separate feature races to go along with the Late Models 60 lap main event.
Grandstands will open up at 6 PM with the first green flag of the season scheduled to fly at 8:45 PM. More track and schedule information can be found by visiting them at the Wake County Speedway website.
Williamston, SC :
Another track affected by mother nature the last time the U.S. Legend Cars were scheduled to race was Anderson Motor Speedway. The fast high-banked 3/8ths-mile oval welcomes in the Must See Racing Sprint Cars this Friday night for their only appearance on the Anderson oval in 2016.
Also on the racing card is the Legend car division for what will be race #3 of the 2016 season. Justin Ashley and Alex Pacheco took home the first two wins of the season and another full field of contenders is expected to challenge for the win in the 20 lap feature.

Midlothian, VA :
Historic Southside Speedway will come to life for the second time in 2016. This week just the Legend car division will be in action as the Bandoleros are off.
Two weeks ago in the season opener, veteran Tommy Jackson, Jr. drove his familiar #87 to victory lane over a stout field of competitors. Look for another headline class to take to the speedway this Friday night in hopes of taking the 25-lap feature win.

Concord, NC :
After taking a week off the 1/4-mile oval comes back to action with another doubleheader this weekend at Concord Speedway on both Friday and Saturday night. So far this season there has been 2 successful events and 2 rainouts. The track has added April 22nd and 23rd as make-up dates for the two lost dates.
Two weeks ago on April Fool’s Day, Jacob Heafner scored the win the Open Legends feature, while Alex Verhagen scored his first win in the Young Lions division. Matthew Eades went 2-for-2 in the Bandolero Outlaws class and in the Bandolero Bandits the result from race 1 was just flipped as Will Robusto beat Josh Kossek for the win.

Saturday, April 16th :
Lake Havasu City, AZ :
The 2015-16 racing season comes to an end at Havasu 95 Speedway this Saturday night with a Monster conclusion. Along with the full racing division card, the Monster Truck Show will take to the race track for a show.
The Sam Nichols Electrical Bandoleros head into the final event with Allison Gay up by 20 points over Brock Rogers for the championship. Gay is in good position to pick up the title if the car count remains the same as it has throughout the season.

Roseville, CA :
Another race track that was forced to reschedule its opening day is the All American Speedway. Rain forced the early cancellation last weekend to move the opening night to this Saturday night.
The Legends of Pacific series will be on the schedule along with the PCS Late Models and Street Stocks to open the 2016 calendar at All American Speedway.

Meridian, ID :
The 65th season of racing gets underway this Saturday night at Meridian Speedway up in the potato state of Idaho. The Pepsi season opener features the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified division along with the Dominos Legend cars as part of an action packed schedule of racing.
Kuna, Idaho’s Casey Tillman took home the 2015 Legend car championship at Meridian Speedway and a full cast of racers will be on hand to compete for the 2016 title.

Bethel, NY :
One of the most favorite race tracks among racers has to be Bethel Motor Speedway in the quiet little town of Bethel, NY just down the street from Woodstock.
Tracy Chirico is one of the best track promoter’s around and she supports the Legends and Bandolero drivers like nobody else. After another successful season in 2015 that was capped off with a thrilling LegendStock event, Bethel Motor Speedway is all systems go to open their 2016 campaign next Saturday night, April 23rd. However, this Saturday is open practice for all divisions plus a special INEX points paying races for the Bandolero and Legend car classes.

Union, KY :
The 2016 Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series begins the 2016 racing season this Saturday on the 1/2-mile clay oval that is Florence Speedway in Union, KY.
2015 OVRLCS champion Cole DeMint headlines a stout field of competitors looking to capture that first checkered flag of the new season. Last season Steve Partin look home the trophy at Florence Speedway and he will be one to watch this Saturday night.
Spring Run, PA :
The ServiceMaster Clean Central PA Legend Cars swing back into action this Saturday night at Path Valley Speedway Park following the snow-out last weekend.
Defending Central PA Legends champion Bill Diehl took home the season opener just a few weeks ago at Susquehanna Speedway in a photo finish over Lucas Montgomery.
The series will get under way with heats and the main event on Saturday night in a one-day show at Path Valley Speedway Park along with the E-Mods.
El Paso, TX :
The 2nd annual Casa Nissan Spring Fling got under way this Thursday night with the first of three nights of racing for one of the biggest Legends dirt shows of the year.
Mike Zuloaga, Chris Smith and the entire Casa Nissan family have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into making this one of the must-see events this season at Western Tech Speedway Park.
In all culminates with the $5,000 first place check to the winner of the feature event on Saturday night. Tim Brockhouse is back to defend his crown from last season but it will not be easy.
Along with Brockhouse, Tyson Goudy, defending class champion Mike Zuloaga, Steven Arellano, CJ Hulsey and Alex and Jesse Esqiuvel will be drivers to watch.

Columbus, OH :
“The Final Lap” as it is being called gets underway on Saturday night at Columbus Motor Speedway. The race track in operation since 1946 will close the gates for the final time at the end of this season.
The season begins with a bang as the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Models will be joined by the Legend Cars for what is going to be an action-packed season opener.

Greenbrier, TN : Race #3 of the 2016 season takes place this weekend on the fast high banks of Highland Rim Speedway. Adam Sturgill won the season opener, while Dylan Fetcho won 2 weeks ago.
Thornbug, VA : After rain/snow affected the Commonwealth of Virginia last weekend, the brand new Dominion Raceway will begin its inaugural season on Saturday night.
The Legend cars will be a featured class throughout the 2016 campaign and look for local favorites like Zach Lightfoot and Tommy Jackson, Jr. to contend for the championship.
Beaver Dam, WI : The 2016 season gets the green flag this Saturday night on the dirt track at Beaver Dam Raceway. The Choice Insurance Legend Cars will once again be a featured division this season at the speedway.
Sunday, April 17th :
Oxford, ME : Action starts hot and heavy this Sunday afternoon at Oxford Plains Speedway with the Pro All Stars Series North Speedway Homes 150 along with the INEX Legend cars on the schedule.
Austin Teras took home the 2015 track championship and this season has moved up to the PASS Super Late Model division.
