TOBACCOVILLE, NC : Josh Kossek enters the final weekend of the U.S. Legend Cars Winter Heat racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) fourth in the overall Young Lions championship point standings. Kossek has scored three top five finishes and six top tens in the seven rounds already completed.
Kossek moved up to the higher horsepower Legend car in December after he finished 2016 second in the overall Bandolero Bandit national point standings. After he tested several times before the Winter Hear began, Kossek impressed with two third place finishes in his first two Legend car starts on the fifth-mile oval at Charlotte.
Following the holiday break, Kossek jumped back into his Legend car and took on the challenging infield road course at Charlotte. By the second week he was running very competitive times and just missed out on a top five. Kossek rebounded last week with his road course best fourth place finish, and he was a top five car again before trouble caught him out in the second race of the weekend.
No matter what happens in Saturday’s final round, Kossek has definitely shown quick gains and adaptability to the faster Legend car. Kossek has also entered the 2017 INEX Winter Nationals at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida from February 20th-24th.
