CONCORD, NC : This weekend, for the first time, the U.S. Legend Cars International Road Course World Finals goes international. The 2017 World Finals takes place on the Botniaring in Jurva, Finland.
Three American drivers are making the trip halfway around the world to compete in the event against some of the best road course Legend car drivers. 860 Motorsports Pro drivers Jordan O’Brien and Noah Korner are both taking on the toughest competition that they have faced this weekend in Finland. O’Brien comes into the event second in the world Pro Road Course standings, just six behind Connecticut’s Shaun Buffington. O’Brien has picked up four full point wins in 2017 with two each at New Hampshire and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
Canton, Connecticut’s Noah Korner is chasing both the Legends Pro Asphalt and Road Course national championships this season. Korner is currently second in the oval standings, which will be decided in October at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and sits sixth in the road course national standings entering this weekend’s finals.
In between O’Brien and Korner in the standings are three very tough Finnish drivers that will have the home track advantage. Henri Tuomaala, Mathias Herten and Jesse Vartiainen are all within striking distance of the championship. Tuomaala has scored four feature wins this season and has a second place result in May at the Botniaring.
For Herten, he has five overall road course wins including the win at Botniaring back in May.
The third American driver enters this weekend as the championship leader of the Semi-Pro division. Teddy Hodgdon has scored an impressive 16 wins in a season where he has focused on the road course championship.
