EMPORIA, KS : With the crazy cold, wet and even snow falling across a good portion of the country this weekend, there have been a lot of races cancelled, changed or on weather watch. Here is an updated list of who is still racing this weekend and what races maybe called due to weather.
Saturday, April 7th Schedule :
Sunny South Raceway (AL) – The races are still scheduled to go on at Grand Bay, Alabama’s track. The track will make a decision in the morning regarding any possible cancellations. The pit gates are scheduled to open at 2PM if they are able to race tomorrow night.
Irwindale Speedway (CA) – The 2018 season opener at the track that refuses to close is still scheduled to go on Saturday night. Rains have taken over a lot of California, but as of now the races are still a go. Stay tuned to the Irwindale Speedway Facebook page for any changes tomorrow. INEX Legends return for another full season of racing beginning tomorrow night.
Orange Show Speedway (CA) – San Bernadino’s action track is scheduled to open their 2018 season on Saturday night with a full card of racing. Bandoleros are on this week’s racing schedule and will compete most weeks at the track throughout the season.
Southern New Mexico Speedway (NM) – The only track this week that has been unaffected by the weather is the dirt in Southern New Mexico. The two-day season opening weekend show concludes on Saturday night under what should be a beautiful night for racing.
Concord Speedway (NC) – Weekly racing picked back up this weekend at Concord Speedway with two days of racing. Friday’s action was able to get in before the rains moved in, but Saturday is still in question. Stay tuned to Concord Speedway’s Facebook page during the day Saturday for any updates of their schedule.
Lil’ Texas Motor Speedway (TX) – The 6th Annual Battle at the Big Top concludes on Saturday morning with INEX regional qualifier and championship deciding races. Gates are scheduled to open at 8AM in the morning. Follow U.S. Legend Cars on Twitter and Facebook for any alterations to the schedule for the day.
New Stockton 99 Speedway (CA) – Although the rains moved in early on Friday and forced the cancellation of practice at the speedway, officials have decided to move the scheduled races from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon with the threat of more rain on Saturday.
Indy Speedrome (IN) – Another track that has taken advantage of a schedule adjustment is the Speedrome in Indianapolis. Due to the extreme April cold temperatures races are now scheduled for Sunday with pit gates opening up at 9AM. Races are to begin at 2PM.
Springfield Raceway (MO) – Winter weather and cold temperatures are not going to stop the action at the dirt track in SW Missouri this weekend. Following last week’s successful season opener, the speedway has moved the racing from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon with the winter-type temperatures expected on Saturday night.
Race Tracks That Have Canceled for the Weekend :
Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) – Doubleheader will now take place on Saturday, May 12th after tomorrow’s races were postponed.
Florence Speedway (KY) – The 2018 Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series season opener scheduled on Saturday has been postponed due to weather. The series will now begin their season next Sunday at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio. Florence Speedway will attempt to host the OVRLCS again on Saturday, April 28th.
East Carolina Motor Speedway (NC) – The Bandoleros were scheduled to compete this Saturday night on the Robersonville, North Carolina track. On Thursday, officials canceled the events this weekend with the near 100% chance of all day rain tomorrow.
Shenandoah Speedway (VA) – Another track that was scheduled to begin their season on Saturday that was forced to pull the plug earlier in the week due to weather was Shenandoah Speedway.
Trail-Way Speedway (PA) – The Central PA Legends will have to try again later in the season to race at Trail-Way Speedway after snow forced the track to cancel the racing action this Saturday night. The Central PA Legends will run a doubleheader next weekend with a visit to Linda’s Speedway on Friday, April 13th followed by Path Valley Speedway on Saturday, April 14th.
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex (OH) – The season opener at the fan-friendly Ohio dirt track was also canceled this weekend due to rain, snow and cold temperatures. The track will try to open for the 2018 season next Sunday afternoon, April 15th.
Anderson Motor Speedway (SC) – Mother Nature moved over the speedway during qualifying Friday night and never moved out. No races were completed before the rains moved in. The 2018 season will hopefully begin next Friday night as the INEX Legends are scheduled to return once again. Lee Jordan had qualified on pole for the 20 lap INEX Legend car feature race. It is unknown at this moment if those qualifying results will carry over to next week.
