KIRKISTOWN, IRELAND : The Irish Legends Championship returns for its third season of action, with the opening round to be held at Northern Ireland’s Kirkistown circuit on April 21st. Eight entries will take to the track, although this will rise rapidly throughout the season.
Heading the entry list is the #1 car of double champion Paul O’Brien, looking to make it a hat-trick of titles. Ever presents of Irish Legends returning to the series looking to challenge O’Brien include Ian Conroy – who is looking to add to his tally of victories after claiming a maiden success in 2017, Jonathan Taylor who in his new liveried patriotic green and orange machine will be aiming to challenge his nephew Paul and put himself on the top step. Gordon Brown also returns in his beautifully turned out #16 car, whilst Legends elder statesman Ivor Greenwood will be keen to impress at his home circuit and put it to drivers 5 decades his junior.
After acquiring cars towards the end of last season, brothers Geoff and Greg Richardson will look to build on an excellent first appearance at the end of the 2017 season and will push for honours in 2018. Colm O’Sullivan debuts in the championship this season – look out for him as the season progresses.
Missing the opening round and joining the series later in season will be former race winners Niki Meredith and James Holman, whilst Richard Kearney – who will aim to collect his first Legends race win and Ruairi O’Dowd who like Colm is a newcomer to the series will also join in as the year progresses. There’s also more scope for additional racers as there are cars for hire throughout 2018 that are available, check in with Irish Legends on Facebook if you are interested in joining us.
