(Southeast Super Truck racer Ashton Higgins celebrates a Legend Car win last season at Tri-County Motor Speedway)
ASHEVILLE, NC : There is a new traveling tour set to debut this weekend at Tri-County Motor Speedway alongside the Southeast Super Truck Series in Hudson, North Carolina. While no official name has been announed for the new tour, it will primarily follow the SESTS during the 2018 season. That new tour is the most popular form or race car in the world, the Legend Car.
Jeff Myers, who owns the Southeast Super Truck Series, has applied for and received a sanction agreement for the 2018 season for all the INEX Legend Car races scheduled to run with the series through the October 6th INEX regular season point finale.
The first official race for the new Southeast traveling Legend Car series takes place in Hudson, North Carolina on Saturday, April 28th at Tri-County Motor Speedway. LegendsNation will be on hand to provide media coverage and support the launch of the series.
The future plan of the series include races that pay anywhere from $500-$1,000 to win, plus a season long point fund for competitors. Officials with the series are actively looking for a title sponsor and individual race sponsorships for races this season and beyond.
The Southeast Super Truck Series is a perfect compliment for Legend Cars due to the size of race tracks and the closeness of the the venues for the INEX race cars to compete on. From Tri-County Motor Speedway this weekend the series will next visit Anderson Motor Speedway on May 12th, which runs Legend Cars on a weekly basis during the track’s season.
Other racing venues on tap for the year include Caraway Speedway, Kingsport Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway and return trips to Tri-County Motor Speedway. All of which have hosted INEX Legend Car races in the past.
The final race on October 27th will be not be for INEX points as the 2018 INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals takes place that same weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada and the official INEX point season ends of October 8th.
This weekend’s race at Tri-County Motor Speedway features a 75-lap Southeast Super Truck race race, a 50-lap Gripp Energy Drink Limited Late Models race, and features for the U.S. Legend Cars, Mini Cups and Front Wheel Drives. Tickets are just $12 for adults, $8 for seniors with kids ages 6-12 getting admission at just $6. Races are scheduled to begin at 7 PM.
