FUQUAY-VARINA, NC : Cameron Murray will be traveling over 700 miles to run in three different races at three different tracks during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The 14-year-old driver from Fuquay-Varina will make starts in a Bandolero on Friday and Saturday at Concord Speedway and East Carolina Motor Speedway respectively. Murray is teaming up with Tretow Racing, a recently formed race team out of Concord, North Carolina. Then, on Sunday, Murray will head out to Carteret County Speedway for the second time this season to race his Legend Car, which is prepared by the elite Dillon Spain Motorsports racing team.
“I am very excited running at three different tracks in three days plus being my second race with Tretow Racing is exciting as well,” Murray said. “I’m also very excited about running my Legend Car at Carteret County Speedway and being a part of a premier team like Dillon Spain Motorsports. We’re hoping to have a great finish in all three races.”
Just like with any racer, Murray’s intentions are to win during his long weekend of racing.
“I am hoping for a win on at least one track,” Murray said. “Maybe we can win all three races this weekend, but we will definitely be facing some tough competition. I’ve got a lot of great teammates I’ll be racing alongside at Carteret with Will [Bristle] and Mason [Diaz] who are both championship racers and I hope to learn a lot from them and run up front with them. Good finishes at each track this weekend would be great.”
Dillon Spain Motorsports is operated out of Clayton, just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. Spain’s team has won multiple championships in the Eastern North Carolina region. Murray plans to race full-time in 2019 with Dillon Spain Motorsports at tracks all across North Carolina and Virginia.
Murray has one start at Carteret County Speedway in 2018, where he recorded a sixth-place finish. His best finish is a fourth, which he has recorded multiple times this season at Southern National. He has won 12 races in Bandolero competition in 2018 at four different racetracks and sits third in INEX national Bandolero Outlaws points.
