HARRISBURG, NC : On Thursday during the return of the “One to Go” show, U.S. Legend Cars International’s Laila Razmyar and Ash Garrett announced four big conjunction events consisting of INEX races and NASCAR race weekends to showcase the young talent in front of the NASCAR crowds, drivers and teams.
As announced at the Legends of Georgia driving school on January 5th, the Saturday doubleheader on February 23rd featuring the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Gander Mountain Outdoor Truck Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway will be followed by select Legends and Bandolero races. The original plan is to have multiple races to split the classes up if the car count warrants the separation. Atlanta Motor Speedway hosts the second race weekend of the 2019 NASCAR schedule for all three series, which concludes with Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, and the Legends of Georgia boasts one of the fastest growing regions of INEX racers in the country.
The action continues one week later and shifts 2,000 plus miles west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the three NASCAR national touring series also embark on Sin City. This time the USLCI West drivers from Legends and Bandoleros will take to the inside quarter-mile at the big track following Sunday’s Monster Energy Cup Series race on March 3rd. Schedule details will be released in the upcoming weeks with race information.
The former event known as “The Battle at Big Top” has a new name and a new format this year to accomodate the racers and put them center stage all weekend long in the Lonestar State. Just like in the previous two announcements all three of the NASCAR national series will be two-stepping at Texas Motor Speedway the last weekend of March. The new event is currently taking the name “Spring Battle”, but could change before the event. Instead of earlier formats of five racing days in five days, INEX is going with five races in four days to help teams save travel costs, while also limiting the amount of school days the young drivers would miss. While the official racing schedule is still being reviewed to work around the NASCAR on-track activities, there will be racing beginning on Thursday, March 28th with the finale taking place Sunday morning, March 31st prior to the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Cup Series race.
The final, and most anticipated return to a Cup weekend, will take place at “America’s Home for Racing”, Charlotte Motor Speedway during the month of May. The current day and time of racing is still to be determined as both officials from the speedway and USLCI are looking at all options. Legends will return to the quarter-mile oval in May for the first time since 2015, when it was known as the “Legends All-Star Race”. Bandoleros have not been announced as being part of the event at the time of the announcement.
All the events will be INEX sanctioned and take place at four of the first-class Speedway Motorsports, Inc. race tracks across the country.
