CONCORD, NC : The 2018-19 edition of the Cook Out Winter Heat series at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been marred by miserable weather from the first round. The Legend Cars have completed in four rounds of wet weather racing, which has also resulted in the Bandolero divisions only competiting in one of the four road course dates thus far in January.
U.S. Legend Cars International and INEX, who are putting on the series, have made some schedule adjustments for the championship rounds this upcoming weekend. On Saturday, a full day of racing for Legends and Bandoleros will take place, which will be the final Winter Heat points races for Legend drivers.
Sunday, features a minimum of doubles for all Bandolero divisions as INEX attempts to make-up the lost events during the series for the Bandolero Bandits, Outlaws and Beginners. They will be the only classes racing for Winter Heat series championship points on Sunday.
Originally, the Legend classes were not added to the Sunday rain date schedule, but many teams have requested the additional race for national points. While, the official INEX oval point season do not begin until February 11th with the 21st Annual Winter Nationals, the road course point season began on January 1st. Sunday’s features for the four Legend divisions will be for INEX National road course points only as they will crown Cook Out Winter Heat champions on Saturday afternoon.
Current weather forecast for the upcoming weekend is promising for dry, but chilly conditions. Friday’s forecast is high of 46 degrees for practice day under sunny skies, with Saturday and Sunday featuring similiar weather. Morning lows are expected to be in the mid-20’s all weekend.
A full schedule of events will be released in the next day or so after the adjustments are being made to accomodate all the make-up feature events.
