INVERNESS, FL : Teammates Trevor Wester and Carson Ramsey are both hoping they can score victories in Outlaw Bandolero competition before the week is over in the INEX Winter Nationals at Citrus County Speedway.
Westor and Ramsey finished third and fourth respectively in Monday’s Outlaw feature race. The North Carolina teenagers race for Mike Gordon. Gordon’s son, Cory, is a former Legend racer who races on dirt in a Crate Late Model. Both Westor and Ramsey say they have learned everything they know from the elder Gordon.
“His ability and stuff to get the cars repaired and telling us to be smarter in practice and qualifying and being smarter in the race and being patient,” Wester, 16, from Canton, North Carolina, told LegendsNation. “It just really helps and he just tells us how to run a good race and he’s really helpful in that aspect of it.”
Ramsey echoed what his teammate said.
“He’s taught me everything I’ve learned,” Ramsey, 14, from Charlotte, North Carolina, said. “Whether that be being smooth in qualifying, how to pass a lapped car, how to pass in general. Just everything I’ve learned came from him.”
Heading into Wednesday’s races, the two drivers are hoping to improve some more and battle each other for victories.
“Obviously, I hope it’s me who wins but, if not, I’d love to see Team Gordon represented well and me and Carson to finish 1-2 for the final four races,” Wester commented. “That would be pretty awesome.”
On Monday, Wester was faster. Ramsey feels like either car could be faster than the other on any given day.
“It’ll just come down to who’s having a better day,” Ramsey remarked. “There are some days where I’m faster and there are days where he’s faster. Then there are days we’re the exact same. It will just come down to who is faster today.”
Both Wester and Ramsey will compete in the Outlaw Bandolero feature. Racing will resume around 2:30pm EST on Wednesday. LegendsNation.TV will have live, flag-to-flag, broadcast coverage of the race.
