Peebles, OH : In 2018, The National Legend Car Association had taken a new sight on things and made their first series debut to (asphalt) Ona Speedway, in Ona, West Virginia, located just outside of Huntington. The exciting, first-time event had many memorable moments. Spotlighting asphalt veteran, Centerville, Ohio’s own Gerad Miller taking the Victory. Following the event, fans and track officials alike were very excited about the potential opportunity to bring Legend Car racing back regularly in the upcoming years. In 2019, the first step toward reviving weekly Legend Car racing at West Virginias only asphalt track will take place.
After discussions with track officials and local enthusiasts, The National Legend Car Association is proud to announce a partnership with Ona Speedway to revive Legend Car racing at the historic oval. A small group has committed to assisting in the growth of the class that was once a mainstay at the speedway. The speedway announced via a “Facebook Live” video that Legend Cars will race weekly and also encouraged those who had older cars that had previously been raced in the past to come and join them in the 2019 season. The NLCA will also be adding the “West Virginia Region” to its 2019 lineup, allowing drivers racing at Ona Speedway the opportunity to become a Regional Champion.
Along with weekly racing, the NLCA will bring back the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series to Ona Speedway for a special non-points event on August 24th. “We are excited to not only have our stars, but now have local superstars to compete against when we arrive on August 24th,” says Steven Partin when asked about returning to the West Virginia track.
Open Practices will take place April 6th, 13th, and 20th, with opening day set to take place on April 27, 2019.
