PELETIER, NC : Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway and Southern National Motorsports Park have agreed to shift a handful of Legends dates to avoid conflicts over the spring and summer months.
Carteret County Speedway has dropped a Legends race that was going to be held on July 13th alongside the CARS Late Model Stock Tour to avoid conflicting with the Legends Roval Race planned at Southern National on the same day. Meanwhile, Southern National has dropped Legends from their races on May 11th and June 8th.
“With three tracks within less than a couple hours of each other, we have to work together on things for the benefit of our racers,” Carteret County Speedway track owner Bob Lowery said. “Michael Diaz from Southern National Motorsports Park reached out to us about moving some dates around in a way that would be mutually beneficial and we’ve agreed to do so.”
Southern National Motorsports Park had planned to run Legends on May 11th and June 8th but has agreed to drop those races. Carteret County is currently averaging 18 cars in the Legends division and a record-breaking field is expected to compete at Carteret on May 11th.
Carteret County has dropped the July 13th Legends race and is already in discussions with competitors from other divisions about adding another division or two to the schedule for the Solid Rock Carriers Crystal Coast 125. Southern National Motorsports Park will run their first ever Legends Roval race inside the confines of the 4/10-mile oval on July 13th and July 14th.
The Legends division will be in action on Saturday afternoon, April 27th in the NC Aquarium of Pine Knoll Shores Clash at the Coast. They will also headline the May 11th Legends Short Track Shootout at Carteret County. The next race for the Legends division at Southern National Motorsports Park will take place on Saturday, May 18th in a race headlined by the Super Cup Stock Car Series.
