TUCSON, AZ : The Bandolero main event ended on a red flag, three laps shy of the checkered, Saturday at Tucson Speedway.
It was a night of attrition which began in the heat race for the Bandit Bandoleros.
Contact between Jaden Silvas and Maddox O’Brien sent both cars into the wall on the first lap. O’Brien was able to resume the race as Silvas’ car was towed to the pits.
Outlaw Keirstin Jones took the early lead from Adam Farr in the main event. Anika O’Brien watched the battle for the lead in third.
Jeffrey Erickson led the Bandit field.
Cautions for spun cars bunched the field up throughout the race with Erickson maintaining the Bandit lead and Farr and Jones each taking their turn leading the Outlaw field.
Coming into lap 12, Jones spun coming out of four. Anika O’Brien went high to avoid the spun car, spinning her No. 41 into the frontstretch wall. Maddox O’Brien spun low on the track, coming to a stop just out of turn four. Eliana Schilling went high to avoid a hit with Maddox O’Brien, but was unable to avoid the two cars high on the track, resulting in an impact to Anika O’Brien that brought out the red flag instantly.
Though Jones, Schilling and Anika O’Brien’s cars were taken off the track via tow truck, all three girls were able to walk away from the wreck without injury. The race was called, and Farr and Erickson celebrated their wins as the track was cleared.
