(Jacob Derrick led the majority of the Bandolero feature and found victory lane at Langley Speedway)
HAMPTON, VA : Jacob Derrick claimed the Bandoleros division pole with the fast lap set at 21.124 seconds. The start was shown to the grid and off into turn one they went. Derrick emerged as the early race leader, but only by a nose. Cody Bryant, Jr would then concede the battle for the lead and tucked in line behind the leader. Third place runner Wyatt Philyaw would take a peek at the second place ride but settled back in third.
Several laps later and it’s a two car break away with the leaders. Nose to tail were Derrick and Bryant as the halfway came and went. In the final laps Bryant continued to size up the race leader, but it was Derrick across the stripe first for the race win.
“I would like to thank my dad, my nana, my papa, my grandma and my grandpa, along with Gene Nichols, Randy Akers, Rita Akers and my baseball team,” Derrick in victory lane.

Ryan Matthews was back on the Legends series pole with a lap of 18.365 seconds. As the green flag waved it was Matthews who would lead lap one with Spencer Saunders up a spot to second, and hot on the trail of the leader.
Several circuits later, Saunders would get to the bumper of the leader, and looked high and low with a friendly push to take the race lead. Matthews for the moment would let Saunders complete the pass but back would come Matthews to regain the lead.
At halfway into the feature, race leader Matthews looked to be a touch better than Saunders. Connor Jones would watch it all close behind in third as the leader’s battle. In the latter stages the race leader slipped a bit enough for Saunders to retake the lead, but back comes Matthews to lead once again.
Over the final laps and it had to happen, Saunders drove hard into turn one and went around to bring out the caution. The restart of the feature saw Matthews with the better start to hold onto the lead. On the final lap, as the field came around out of turn four, it was Ryan Matthews by 0.330 seconds for the race win.
“We struggled a little bit, tried something different with the set up and tried to get more out of it. We were a little off, made a few adjustments for second practice, picked up a position and qualified on pole,” Matthews in the winner’s circle.
“The car was pretty much perfect in the race. Myself and Spencer are just so close on speed and we gave each other a few bumper moves and I was able to come away with it in the end”.
