PELETIER, NC : Janson Marchbanks, currently second in Young Lions points, is hoping to score a victory and win the division championship in the INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway on Saturday.
Marchbanks, 15, from Anderson, South Carolina, has a win this season at Carteret County Speedway, as well as wins at the Winter Nationals in Florida, the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and clinched the track championship at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina. He’s heading back to Carteret, where he won a race on September 21st, and he’s confident he can come away with the win on Saturday.
“The Farbo Motorsports crew always provides a fast racecar,” Marchbanks said. “We beat Will Bristle the other week, and he’s a really fast driver around Carteret. So, heading into the Nationals, we’re feeling really good about coming out with the win. It would mean a ton if I could pull off the championship, but even if we don’t, the win this weekend shows I’m one of the top drivers in the country.”
Marchbanks has raced at Carteret twice this season, finishing eighth in his first start and winning in his second. It’s a track he enjoys racing at and he loves the challenge.
“It’s definitely a different track,” Marchbanks remarked. “It’s unlike any other track I’ve raced at. The track is very line sensitive, but a thrill to race.”
Marchbanks began racing back in 2015, competing on the go-kart circuit before moving up into Legends.
“I started racing dirt go-karts, ran those for two years,” Marchbanks commented. “I grabbed a championship and over 20 wins, then stepped into the Legend Car stuff and have done really well.”
Now, Marchbanks is hoping to cap off a successful season with a win – and possibly a Young Lions championship – in this INEX Legends Asphalt Natinoals at Carteret County Speedway on Satuday, October 19th. He trails Zack Miracle, who won at Carteret County on October 5th, by 21 points in the INEX Standings.
Qualifying will commence on Friday, October 18th at 11:15am and heat races will get underway shortly after. The Asphalt Nationals feature races will be run on Saturday.
LegendsNation TV will have live streaming coverage of on track action on Friday and Saturday for LNTV subscribers.
