(Tim Richter has done about everything in motorsports, from racing to working odd jobs, race directing and even flagging events)
HARRISBURG, NC : For the first time since 2014 there will be a different voice coming from race control during INEX Winter Nationals. It was made official on Monday afternoon from INEX General Manager Scott Reinhardt that veteran race director Tim Richter would assume the duties for this year’s edition at Citrus County Speedway (FL) next month.
Richter is the Racing Operations Manager for The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and is the track’s race director throughout the year. He has also been the race director for the last three INEX Legends Asphalt National events and will do so again this October as the event returns to Las Vegas for 2020 to crown season-long champions.
Richter comes from a family of racing experience and involvement in motorsports from short tracks to the NHRA and even NASCAR. Tim’s late father Ed worked for more than a decade with the NHRA and then five more years in a technical position with NASCAR in the 1980s.
Ed was instrumental in helping to get the Las Vegas Bullring off the ground and opened up and his son Tim was there every step doing odd jobs and learning the business. Tim would later begin his racing career and took many victories in Mini Stocks, Street Stocks and even Legend Cars before he called it a career.
In 2002, Tim Richter moved back to Las Vegas from Lake Havasu, Arizona and took a job with Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2004. He was promoted to his current position in 2011 along with race director at The Bullring.
The 23rd INEX Winter Nationals gets underway on Saturday, February 8th with open practice. Racing officially begins on Monday, February 10th as the week-long series will get drivers off to a potential season-long championship run.
