The Irish Legends are set to welcome their biggest ever number of entrants for 2020 ahead of the opening double header at Mondello Park on July 25/26th.
With defending 4 time champion Paul O’Brien taking a step back from driving duties to set up and running his own team with no fewer than 6 cars benefitting from his expertise, there will be a new name on the Ed Meredith trophy at the end of the slightly shortened season.
Among the favourites will be 2019 runner up Geoff Richardson and 2016 runner up James Holman – who has switched to a Sedan within the Samsport setup for 2020.
Previous race winners Ian Conroy, Ivor Greenwood and Greg Richardson will also be looking to stake a claim for the championship, which will take place provisionally over 6 rounds and 18 races. The experienced Gordon Brown will be looking to build upon last season’s solid results and will also have an eye on the championship.
There is lots of new blood also ready to make their mark, the standout being that of the super experienced Peter Barrable. Jamie Moylan, nephew of Paul will be looking to keep the championship in the family. Wexford’s David Yamamoto will be another looking to take the newly formed Rookie Championship – for those in their first year of Legends Racing. Kyle Stephens, Derek Hogan, Seamus Ryan – another experienced campaigner in other categories, Ciaran Bergin in his striking looking car and Ruairi O’Dowd will all be taking to the grid for the first time for the 2020 season.
