CARS Tour Rookie and 2021 Legends Champion Cameron Bolin to Race for 2023 Summer Shootout Title

Cameron Bolin

With the short track world and NASCAR returning to the North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina this past weekend, returning to their roots of racing, many drivers are looking backwards to look forwards with their racing careers, returning to venues and even previous race vehicles to take on an old, but new challenge in 2023. 2021 Legends National Champion and current CARS Tour Series Late Model Stock rookie Cameron Bolin is doing just that, returning to Legend Cars competition for the Cook Out Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Driving for 860 Motorsports, Bolin won the 2021 National Championship in Semi-Pro competition, and also picked up the championship in that year’s Summer Shootout Series.  In 2022, Bolin moved to the Pro division, where he won the South Carolina state championship, finishing 10th in the National championship points. 2023 has seen him race in the CARS Tour, driving a family-owned car with support from NASCAR driver Josh Williams and his Josh Williams Motorsports team. He is currently third in rookie points heading into the summer racing season.

The 2023 Summer Shootout effort will once again reunite Bolin with 860 Motorsports, owned by CJ D’Addario, Jr., a team he won 29 races with during his 2021 championship year.

“This will be year number nine for me at the Shootout, starting as a beginner and progressing all the way to Pro,” Bolin told Legends Nation. “A lot has changed, but it still has that same magic to me. Getting to work with CJ and everyone at Team 860, it feels like one big family in a way. It’s always a blast to get back in the Legends car.”

Bolin will race in the Summer Shootout while he is also continuing his racing in the CARS Tour.

“It’s a lot of adjustment to go back and forth. It’s a fun challenge and it keeps me sharp as a driver. Seat time is seat time, so I enjoy getting to work on myself between both cars. It will be a busy summer, but it’ll all be worth it.”

The 2023 Cook Out Summer Shootout Series will have 10 events over eight weeks, starting with the Monday and Tuesday, June 12 and 13, rounds one and two events. It will continue every Tuesday, through August 1, with another Monday-Tuesday double on July 3 and 4.
