Friday Victories at Madison International Speedway go to Bentley Thompson and Penn Sauter

Madison International Speedway - May 26 2023 - Winners

Bentley Thompson and Penn Sauter split the double features for Bandoleros at Madison International Speedway in Wisconsin on Friday, May 26. Below is the race story from the track.

Bandolero Wins Go to Bentley Thompson and Penn Sauter

Ten year old Bentley Thompson won the first 15 lap main event for the Bandoleros.

Parker Bodendorfer and Parker Searles led the field to the green flag. Searles grabbed the early lead before Bentley Thompson took over the top spot on lap 3 with Penn Sauter applying heavy pressure on him. On lap 4 Sauter worked to the inside of Thompson to take the lead just before a spin brought out the caution flag. Thompson paced the field back to green and was able to hold off Sauter as the two checked away from the field. On lap 7 Sauter was off the pace and took his car back to the pits which allowed Thompson to build up a huge lead. The only thing that would slow down Thompson and that would happen on lap 4 when a spin brought out the caution flag. Thompson would bring the field back to green and quickly build up his lead with Parker Searles and Emily Billings in pursuit. But nobody would catch Thompson who picked up the win with Searles edging Billings for second.

Penn Sauter won the second 15 lap feature for the Bandoleros. It was his second career win at Madison.

Bodendorfer took the early lead in the second feature with Carter Stein leading after a lap before Thompson and Sauter took over the two top spots on lap 2 before the caution flag waved. Thompson brought the field back to green and kept the lead until lap 5 when Sauter moved by on the inside. A spin on lap 9 brought out a caution and once again Sauter and Thompson pulled away from the field with Billings in third followed by Stein and Searles. With three laps to go Searles took the third spot from Billings before another caution flag waved. Sauter was able to hold off Thompson the rest of the way to pick up the win with Searles, Billings, and Stein completing the top five.

Penn Sauter set fast time with a lap of 14.676 (61.325 mph)
