Wink Bodenhamer

Wink Bodenhamer, who co-ran the United Auto Racing Association (UARA-STARS) Late Model Stock Series with her husband, Kerry, passed away in the early morning hours on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, after a battle with cancer. Kerry Bodenhamer made the announcement on social media.

“This  without a  doubt is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. At 1:26 this morning God gained one special angel  Wink Bodenhamer lost her battle with cancer. She was the perfect mother Grandmother ,wife , sister and sister in law anyone could ask for. We would like to thank everyone who sent prayers , called and came by. She was loved by many and will be missed by more. Arrangements to be announced at a later time. Continued prayers  for our family during these difficult times would be appreciated.”

The UARA-STARS, which was founded in 2001 and ran races in the southwest USA, was highly known and respected as “the next step” for Legends racers as they progressed up the ladder in their racing career.

LegendsNation.com’s owner, Jason “Stix” Buckley, spent many race weekends at UARA events, whether covering the races for then short track website Speed 51, or for race clients of his business, including current NASCAR champion, Ben Rhodes.

“I don’t think you could find anyone more friendly at a race track than Wink,” said Buckley. “She always had a smile and was willing to help out in any way, shape, or form. She was just one of those people you enjoyed taking a few minutes every weekend to talk to, whether about racing or life. Her positive outlook, her laugh, and her presence will be missed by many.”

LN sends our thoughts and prayers to the Bodenhamer family and friends.
