North Wilkesboro Speedway - July 19 2023 - Legends Test

After Speedway Motorsports, Inc., owner of U.S. Legend Cars International / INEX, reopened North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina for NASCAR racing action this year, a video surfaced this week of a Legends Car making it’s way around the track, leading to speculation Legends may run at the 0.625-mile oval in the future.

On Wednesday, July 19, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and Hoosier Tire held a tire test at the historic track for their upcoming race on September 30. NASCAR, SRX Series, and Modified drivers Ryan Newman and Ryan Preece were at the track, assisting NASCAR with the tire test. However, along with the ground pounders taking laps around the track, a plain white Legends car made it’s way around the track for some laps.

North Wilkesboro Speedway posted a short clip of the car flying by the flag stand on social media, which generated a lot of comments online. Legends Nation shared a screencap of the video, which had various opinions on whether or not the cars should race on a track that is generally larger than what the Legends are used to running on.

Legends Nation contacted USLCI / INEX regarding the test, and whether or not a race would be held there in the future.

“U.S. Legend Cars International had an opportunity to test a Legend Car at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Wednesday,” a representative of USLCI / INEX told LN. “USLCI and INEX Vice-President, GE Chapman, was the test driver and we are currently evaluating his experience.”
