November 18 Legends Race Scheduled for Closing East Bay Raceway Park

East Bay Raceway Park - Finale Promo for November 18 2023

The East Bay Raceway Park track in Tampa, Florida, will host a Legend Cars race on Saturday, November 18, which is the last scheduled race for Legends before the track closes it’s doors for good.

Known as “The Clay by the Bay,” the third-mile dirt oval, which opened in 1977, sits on a property that is adjacent to land owned by Mosaic Co, which is a mining company that also has a plant on location. Back in 1999, the company entered an agreement with the option to purchase the track property from Al Varnadore in five years. A track representative told LegendsNation.com on Wednesday the track will operate with a limited, partial schedule in 2024, and cease to operate thereafter.

With the uncertainty of a potential date in 2024 when Legends can compete, the November 18 race date appears to be the finale for Legends at the track. The race is a stand-alone event for Legends, not sanctioned by INEX or associated with any Florida touring series. Drivers are encouraged to gather together one more time and race at the track before it closes.
