• Nathan Anthony determined to bag big points on Brands Legends return • Horley driver hoping for six consistent races at American Speedfest • Team F4V set for plentiful support at second ‘home’ event of 2024 season |
Legends Cars Championship racer Nathan Anthony cannot wait to return to action at his home track Brands Hatch Indy Circuit this coming weekend, 8th/9th June, when the series resumes for the fifth and sixth rounds of the campaign – part of the huge annual American Speedfest event. Attracting thousands of spectators to the Kent venue every year, the 11th staging of the celebration of American-style racing and culture is set to be another amazing festival and one where Team F4V aims to rack up big points across all six of the weekend’s Legends Cars races. So far this season it’s been a bit of a mixed campaign for Horley-based Nathan, with some great pace and racecraft tempered by several issues and the odd on-track incident. Even so, the rapid category stalwart is a close second in the Masters Cup class – just 60 points adrift with a total of 1,200 up for grabs across the upcoming race weekend. Clearly, Nathan and his striking yellow and blue No.29 Se-Van can make major inroads at American Speedfest and he has every chance to depart Brands Hatch Indy Circuit on Sunday night as the new leader in the Masters Cup battle. That said, with a grid of close to 30 entries and some incredibly quick and talented competition, the First 4 Vans, Towergate Insurance, Blue Lizard, Blue Chip Warranty, Creative Funding Solutions, Moove and Mowermate supported driver is taking nothing for granted. During the season-opening event at Donington Park back in April where Legends supported the British Touring Car Championship, Nathan raced to a best result of seventh position overall. Last time out at Brands Hatch, again with the BTCC, the weekend best was a 10th place finish. Nathan Anthony: “We’re really looking forward to being back at Brands this weekend, Speedfest is always a mega event with loads of fans there – and it’s obviously our home track as well. This season has had its ups and downs so far, pace-wise I’ve been pretty happy but we’ve had some misfortune with mechanical issues and a few incidents as well. “I’m determined to get the lead of the Masters Cup back, so our aim is to rack up as many points in all six races as we can – consistency is key. We did say that before last month’s races at Brands but it didn’t quite work out, so hopefully this time we can get those six strong race finishes we need.” The weekend’s timetable for Legends Cars begins with qualifying at 10.45 on Saturday, 8th June, with Heat One of round five starting at 12.35, Heat Two follows at 15.05 and the Final is then set to begin at 18.05. On Sunday, 9th June, Heat One of round six is scheduled for 10.50, Heat Two at 14.35 and the Final at 17.35.
