Lincoln Cain Best of the Legends
After setting fast time earlier in the night, Lincoln Cain won the 20 lap feature for the Legends picking up his first win in the division at Madison. It was Cain’s first Legends win at Madison.
Kyle Mitchell and Ethan Ross brought the twelve Legends cars to the green flag with Ross leading the first lap before Mitchell moved back to the point. Ross took back the lead on lap 5 with Jacob Stark and Lincoln Cain moving up to second and third. A spin on lap 7 brought out the caution flag.
Ross paced the field back to the green flag with Cain racing his way to second on lap 9 and took the lead getting to the inside of Ross for the lead on lap 10 before a spin brought out the second caution of the race.
For the restart, Cain and Ross chose the front row followed by Stark and Niemi in the second row. Cain broke away from the field with Stark, Ryan Laatsch, and Niemi racing for second. Stark took second followed by Laatsch, Niemi and Ross. But nobody was fast enough to catch Cain as he picked up the checkered flag winning by 1.6 seconds over Stark. Laatsch, Niemi, and Ross completed the top five.
From victory lane Cain thanked those who helped him accomplish his win.
Cain was fastest qualifier with a lap of 13.759 (65.412 mph). Winners in the 8 lap heat races were Ethan Ross and Eric Niemi.
Axel Oldenhoff Holds Off His Brother for Bandoleros Win
Axel Oldenhoff held off his brother, Ace, to win the 15 lap feature for the Tim’s Detailing Bandoleros feature. It was his second career feature win at Madison.
Trevor Lami and Jase Riedner paced the field of eleven Bandoleros to the green flag. An incident on the opening lap involving three cars brought out the red flag and ending the night for two of the drivers.
On the restart the Oldenhoff boys jumped out front and started to run away from the field. Gage Kubicz moved up to third. Axel Oldenhoff kept the lead over his brother Ace and then both began working their way through lapped traffic before the yellow flag waved for a spin on lap 9. Axel continued to lead over Ace with Gage Kubicz and Jase Riedner in third and fourth.
But in the end the checkered flag belonged to Axel who beat out his brother with Kubicz, Riedner, and Lami completing the top five.
