Ninth Place Overall Best for Team F4V at USA Snetterton 300

2024 Team F4V - Legends Cars Championship - Snetterton - Post Race Recap

Team F4V Media Release –

•    Consistent outing for Nathan Anthony with five scores from six
•    Team F4V driver posts best of P9 during penultimate event of 2024
•    Five top three Masters Cup class results with three second places

Dramatic and highly-charged action was a feature of the entire Legends Cars Championship race meeting at Snetterton in Norfolk over the weekend, 7th/8th September, where Team F4V driver Nathan Anthony delivered a series of consistent results.

Emerging from the penultimate event of the Legends Cars season with a best overall result of ninth place from Heat One of round 12, the Horley racer finished in the top 15 in all but one race – the rain impacted Final on Sunday where he was forced to retire with damage. In the Masters Cup class race results, Nathan achieved three second places and two thirds.

Saturday’s opening Heat held a lot of promise, with the Team F4V driver starting third on the grid, and Nathan remained in the lead group as the race headed into the infield on lap one. As they ran through Hamilton, though, the No.29 Se-Van was pushed wide off circuit and Nathan dropped down to 15th place. With a huge amount of time to recover, he eventually finished in 14th position.

Lining-up 16th on the grid for Heat Two, good progress was made over the course of the six laps at the 2.97-mile Snetterton 300 Circuit and the First 4 Vans, Towergate Insurance, Blue Lizard, Blue Chip Warranty, Creative Funding Solutions, Moove and Mowermate supported driver climbed as high as 11th before being edged back to 12th on the final lap.

Starting seventh for the Final, a robust first lap meant a slip back to 10th place. Falling another four spots after a skirmish on lap two, Nathan leapt into the top 12 the next time around. Managing to break into the top 10 on the penultimate lap, red flags were then shown on the final tour due to a car having rolled. With the result taken back to the end of lap seven, Nathan had to settle for 12th.

Drawing pole position in the grid ballot for Sunday’s first Heat, the race didn’t turn out quite as hoped – although he still posted a finish inside the top 10. Edged to second on the run into Riches, Nathan initially tried to hold ground but several championship pace-setters were in a position to pounce and the result was a slip back to eighth for the Se-Van on the opening tour.

Elbowed back to 12th position by lap four, he did then begin to make his was back up towards the top 10. Following a time penalty for Saturday’s triple race-winner Chris Needham, Nathan actually took ninth place – just 0.2 seconds shy of the Masters class victory.

Starting Heat Two from the eighth row of the grid, he pieced together a terrific first lap to move up into the top 12 and took 11th place on lap two after Will Gibson had a lock-up. Due to an incident on lap three, the Se-Van profited to move into ninth but slipped to 12th position on the final tour due to a gearing issue – which had been in evidence to some degree all weekend.

Rain arrived ahead of the round 12 Final, then dissipated, then returned, so the track was incredibly slippery. From eighth on the grid Nathan aimed to make progress, but after an unfortunate lap one spin – one of several to be caught out – he received contact to the rear of the Se-Van.

Breaking the bumper, Nathan rejoined in 15th position before the Safety Car was deployed. He was subsequently shown the black and orange flag, meaning officials required him to pit due to the damage, and he was prevented from re-joining the race – a disappointing end to the weekend.

Nathan Anthony:
“It’s been a bit of a mixed weekend really. We’ve taken away some decent points, and were pretty consistent, but we were chasing a gear issue for almost the whole weekend and then the damage in the Sunday Final was really disappointing as it meant a DNF. In the Masters we had some good finishes but not really what we needed to keep our hopes alive for the final round at Oulton.

“We’ll work hard on the Se-Van over the next couple of weeks before we head north for the last three races of the season, hopefully we can put on a good show there and end the season on a bit of a high for the sponsors and all the guys at the team who have done such a great job all year.”

There are only three weeks to wait until the 2024 Legends Cars Championship finale, round 13, which will take place at Oulton Park in Cheshire on Saturday, 28th September.
