Cody Carlton Wins the 2024 Christmas Clash and $2,000 at Carteret County Speedway

Carteret County Speedway - Christmas Clash - December 14 2024 - Cody Carlton

Legends headed to Carteret County Speedway (NC) on Saturday, December 14, for the Christmas Clash $2,000-to-win 50-lap Legend Car race. As seen live on Racing America, Cody Carlton was able to cross the stripe first, winning the race and the money.

Multiple cautions early in the race made it difficult to lay down laps, however, once they got going, Carlton tried to set sail from the field. Scotty Benford worked his way to second and was running down Carlton for the lead.

With 14 laps to go, Carlton tangled with a lapped car, which caused the lapper to spin out. The race director did not put Carlton to the rear due to the contact.

“I would like to thank the race director for not putting me to the rear,” said Carlton. “I was on the brakes as hard as I could underneath that guy. He gave me the lane when I went in there, and then he cut across my nose. It was all I could do to stop. I appreciate that.”

A caution came out on the white-flag lap, setting up a two-lap dash to the checkered. Carlton was able to scoot away, winning the race.

“It was a good race,” continued Carlton. “Scotty definitely pressured us there at the end. I definitely didn’t want to see that caution at the end.”

Benford and Jacob Weidman rounded out the top three. Unofficial results below as posted on Race Monitor.
