On Wednesday, May 28, New River All American Speedway in Jacksonville, North Carolina, announced the track was closing effective immediately.
“New River All American Speedway held its first race July 31, 2021. It’s been a wild ride. Memories & friendships made that we will never forget,” said the statement. “Over the last several weeks & months we’ve had many discussions about the future of New River. Yesterday, we made the tough decision to close the doors. For those of you who supported New River, thank you will never be enough.”
The track opened in 1999 as Coastal Plains Raceway, and held races for Legends and Bandoleros, however, car counts had significantly dropped off over the past few years outside major events. They held a CARS Tour Series event earlier this year and had a full season of Legends and Bandoleros scheduled for 2025. Brody Rhodes won the final Legends race at the track this past weekend, a Regional Qualifier with just nine Legends. Paxton Smith was the only Bandolero that showed up to race.
