Lanier Sold, But Not Closing? New Supposed Private Owner and Developer to Reopen Track

Lanier Speedway

Another race track in the country has been sold, and being redeveloped, but in an odd twist, the new owners are going to reopen the track for use … we think.

Caffeine and Octane acquired Lanier Raceway in Georgia in 2022, using the track primarily for drifting and automotive marketing and tv production location events and car shows. Legends and Bandoleros did continue to race there for a few events, but after the March 23, 2024, races, the track canceled the remainder of the races for the INEX Racing Series cars. Rumors online stated the races were canceled due to poor car count, while drivers and teams told Legends Nation they were treated poorly by the new owners, and most decided to never return to the track under their ownership. Legends Nation even had problems getting them to publish or send race results for events to highlight the action.

News broke the last few days the track was sold, and shutting down after their November 23 event. The track did post as such on their Facebook page.

A lot of posts online and even news blogs picked up the information the track was sold and will be redeveloped as a residential and commercial area, with the track being completely removed. It appeared the track was going away completely.

At the same time, a Facebook page named Lanier Speedway popped up as well as the site at LanierSpeedway.com with very little information other than a development plan for the property. In the illustration, the track appeared to be removed, replaced with an event center, surrounded by housing and other things. Legends Nation dug through the postings, and there were several posts by the track responding to others stating the track will remain and a new illustration is being drawn up.

LN reached out by Facebook Messenger to the track for more information.

According to the anonymous person managing the page, the track sale has been completed and closed, the new owners are currently preferring to be private, and the track will remain.

“Track will remain, events will continue, ownership structure is private for now,” stated the message to LN. “Development around the track will occur bringing restaurants retail and commercials sites. On other sections of the property will be private garage condos, residential sites, and rv lots.

“Track, commercial and retail areas will be open to the public.”

With the track not hosting oval Legends and Bandolero events since the beginning of 2024, we asked if they would consider running Legends and Bandoleros there in the future.

“Lanier speedway will host events as well as the track will be available to be rented by third-party promoters just as it has been done in the previous number of years.”

LN was told a new layout plan would be released in the future for the property.

With the anonymous person, and the new owners of the track being kept private, Legends Nation doesn’t have information on who this might be, or even if this information is accurate. With it being easy to register domain names and start Facebook pages, we do not have any way of verifying if this is even legit, or if it is someone spoofing the racing world. However, if true, it would be an exciting thing for the motorsports community, especially the Legends and Bandolero world of racing, to see a track come back online and give another great place to race.

Legends Nation will continue to stay in contact with the mysterious person for updates.
