Bexton Busch Confirms He Will Race in Legends; Possible 2025 Busch vs. Harvick Matchups?

One of the most-watched young drivers in motorsports will be racing a Legends car as early as 2025, possibly setting up an early future NASCAR drivers rivalry with another popular young racer.

Brexton Busch, son of NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, has been racing and winning in various styles of racing vehicles, including in Bandoleros. The nine-year-old driver has Bandolero victories at tracks such as Citrus County Speedway (FL), Wake County Speedway (NC), and at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) during the Summer Shootout.

On Saturday, August 17, within a video posted on Kyle Busch’s social media showcasing his 26-year-old Legend car and promoting a Lucas Oil product, the older Busch discussed Legends racing with his son, Brexton, where the younger Busch said he was going to race a Legends car.

“You about ready for that age,” said Kyle to Brexton in the video.

In 2022, INEX, the sanctioning body behind Bandolero and Legend Cars racing, lowered the age limit required to race their sanctioned cars for the first time since formed in the 90s for both Bandolero and Legends racing. Bandoleros were reduced from eight years old to seven, while Legends were reduced from 12 to 10. That rule allowed Brexton Busch to race in Bandoleros, and at the same time, allowed Keelan Harvick, son of NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick, to race in Legends (he has won multiple races this season in a Legend car). They would not have been eligible prior to the rule change, which caused speculation INEX changed the age limits specifically for Busch and Harvick.

In May of 2025, Brexton will turn 10 years old, and with the requirements needed to race in Legends at 10 (required to have competed in two years of documented Bandolero competition or have two years of documented racing experience in karting, quarter midgets or another form of INEX approved sanctioned racing), it is possible he will race during the 10 round 32nd-annual Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway in June and July, 2025.

Will Brexton Busch and Keelan Harvick finally race against each other in a Legends Car race in 2025? Possibly. Busch can opt to be in the Chargers division of Legends racing, which is a beginner class. He can also choose to race in the Young Lions division, which is the division Harvick has been racing and winning in. However, it is possible Harvick might not be in Legends in 2025, or, if he is, he might move up to the Pro division, which wouldn’t allow Busch and Harvick to compete in the same races during the Summer Shootout. However, in most tracks across the country, Legends race in a combined-division class, which means the nation could finally see a Busch versus Harvick match up in Legend Cars in 2025, something NASCAR fans and fans of their fathers have been waiting for.
