INEX: Citrus County Speedway Not Sanctioned; Track Will Get Sanctioning Once Tire Situation Improves

Citrus County Speedway and INEX

On Monday, May 1st, Legends Nation posted a story regarding the new tire rule at Citrus County Speedway in Florida. The track last week made the announcement multiple tire manufacturers will be allowed in their Legends and Bandolero races due to the tire shortages currently plaguing the sport. This prompted many to ask us as well as on social media if the races there are under INEX sanctioning, which would determine if points accrued at the track would count towards INEX national points.

On Monday evening, Legends Nation reached out to INEX.

“As of today, Citrus County Speedway does not possess a 2023 INEX sanction for local races,” said Josh Roller, Communication Specialist with INEX. “However, the races held at Citrus County for the 2023 Winter Nationals, February 12-17, were officially sanctioned INEX races.”

Legends Nation reached out to Citrus County Speedway. The track told LN they do plan on having INEX sanctioning in the future when the tire situation eases. Until then, they want to allow local drivers the ability to race and gain track experience.

“We plan on having sanction events but to keep the guys going and since we are not/ have not had any other sanction Legend events other than Winter Nationals, we have had to go to American Racer because thats all that was available. We plan to go 100% sanction events with INEX Legends and Bandoleros once Hoosier tires are available and we get the paperwork and deal settled up with INEX.”

Legends Nation will continue to follow up with the track on their sanctioning. Their next scheduled races will take place on Saturday, May 6.
