Team Release:
• Team F4V ready to mount major push in new Legends Cars Elite Cup
• High profile BTCC-supporting category to debut this weekend
• Horley team’s ‘home’ track Brands Hatch to host first two rounds
• Nathan Anthony, Miles Rudman aim to shine on ITV4 live coverage
New ground will be broken by Team F4V this coming weekend, 6th/7th May, when the inaugural Legends Cars Elite Cup with JLM begins at Brands Hatch in Kent as part of the support package to the UK’s biggest motorsport category, the British Touring Car Championship.
Bringing Legends Cars racing to a huge new audience, both trackside and through live television coverage on ITV4, the first two rounds of the Elite Cup are eagerly awaited by Team F4V drivers Nathan Anthony and Miles Rudman – the latter a three-time and reigning champion of the sister Legends Cars Championship.
Miles, of course, achieved the Horley squad’s first podium result of 2023 a fortnight ago at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire during a very welcome, unexpected eleventh hour appearance in the Legends Cars Championship with MRF Tyres, his maiden race meeting in the Team F4V Se-Van.
Team owner Nathan also celebrated success with a weekend-best sixth place finish, although some contact and mechanical issues at various points through the event did unfortunately impact his points-scoring potential over the course of all six Cadwell races.
Raring to go and relishing the prospect of racing as part of a BTCC weekend for the first time, the Team F4V drivers are primed and ready for the biggest race meeting of their respective careers where the Legends Cars will prove to be a huge draw for the tens of thousands of spectators.
The squad, which is supported by First 4 Vans, Towergate Insurance, Blue Lizard, Blue Chip Warranty, Moove and Creative Funding Solutions, will form part of an expected grid of 34 entries at Brands Hatch – easily the most heavily subscribed category on the BTCC package.
Official testing will take place on Friday, 5th May, with the first qualifying session of the Elite Cup getting underway at 09.10 on Saturday, 6th May. Remember, in Legends Cars racing qualifying is for drivers to complete their mandatory three laps ahead of racing – the grids for the Heats are set by competitors drawing a number in a grid-draw ballot.
Heat one follows at 11.40, Heat Two at 14.15 and the round one Final at 17.00. On Sunday, 7th May, Heat One of round two is set to begin the day’s action at 10.00, Heat Two – which will be screened live on ITV4 – will start at 13.50 and the Final will conclude the track action at 17.55. Live timing and circuit commentary will be available HERE
Nathan Anthony:
“To say we’re looking forward to Brands and the start of the Elite Cup is an understatement! Racing on a BTCC weekend for the first time is going to be massive for Team F4V, and with the first rounds being at Brands Hatch it’s going to be fantastic with so many partners, friends and family able to join us and be part of it all.
“Taking the podium at Cadwell with Miles was a great way to start the year, and although I had a few engine issues the top six finish I took showed the potential. We’re definitely aiming high in the Elite Cup and so I hope Miles and I can both make a strong and consistent start to the campaign. As ever in Legends racing though, anything can happen!”
