On August 5, 2023, Jay Belcher went for a wild ride in his Legends car at Alaska Raceway Park (AK) on the first lap after contact from another car, flipping down the track, hitting the turn three wall. Action was stopped for 30 to 40 minutes as he had to be Life Med from the track to the hospital, ending up with a broken pelvis and concussion (the remainder of the race was canceled). Belcher was able to go home later in the week after the accident, and is on the mend. He was already ordering parts to repair his car within 24 hours of the accident so he can get back on track next season.
Through his daughter, Stacy Sims, Belcher was good with having the videos of his wreck used for this “Flippin’ Friday!” feature, saying if he can’t be famous for winning, at least he can be famous for his track acrobats!
