East Coast Legend Series - BAPS Motor Speedway - Jordan Miklas - March 16 2024

From East Coast Legend Series PR – York Haven, PA- Wisconsin’s Jordan Miklas claimed the East Coast Legend Series season-opener Saturday at BAPS Speedway. Miklas held off a hard-charging Shaun Abney in the waning laps to claim a .11 second Victory in a photo-finish. Abney held the lead at the white flag, but Miklas fought underneath in turn three on the final circuit to come out on top in his Bellboy Motorsports-owned No. 58.

“I wasn’t going to run him (Abney) over for it, but he missed the bottom. I just drove it hard in there and we just got him at the line,” Miklas explained. “Bellboy Motorsports had this thing set up for me, all I had to do was drive,” he added. Abney, from Maryland, concurred with Miklas’s assessment of the race. Abney stated that he hit some ruts on the inside of turn three, forcing his car high which allowed Miklas to move underneath.

Stephen Wurtzer sported a fast car to finish third. Veteran driver Mason Chaney took fourth and Logan Jones was impressive in fifth.

Sixth through 10th were Wanye Dutterer, Jr., Jake Locklear,  Mike Racine, Logan Carbaugh and Scott Montgomery.

Colton Friese led much of the event until contact from Tanner Jones sent Friese into the spin cycle. Friese was collected by Jeremy Ott. Subsequent contact to Jones from Bob Stough would relegate both Jones and Stough to the rear of the field.

Thirty-two cars entered the event. Friese, Stough, Ott and Jones won the heats while Carbaugh claimed the B-Main. Miklas’s victory was the 25th of his career. Miklas, a five-year Legends veteran, also has one Legends championship to his credit.
