From Maritime League of Legends Tour PR –
(BEDFORD, NS – June 13th, 2024) – The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour will head to Prince Edward Island this weekend for the PiccottCare 50 on Saturday, June 15th. The race serves as Round Two of 10 on the 2024 season and the only stop to Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge. Racing action begins on Saturday evening at 6pm.
As EIT Race Radios Heat Races were set to roll off at Petty International Raceway last Saturday, the skies opened up and ultimately put a halt to proceedings. The scattered showers throughout the weekend would postpone the R&D Performancenter 50 and the rest of the racing card. As of press time, the rescheduled date has yet to be announced.
With only one race in the books, Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) will take the championship point lead into Oyster Bed Speedway. Hometown favorite Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) sits second in points with Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS), Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) and Chase Livingston (Springhill, NS) rounding out the top five in points heading into the second race of 2024.
Caden Tufts (Timberlea, NS) is the defending winner of the PiccottCare 50. Tufts, who won this race as a MacDonald Automotive Rookie in 2023, enters eighth in the point standings and is coming off a pair of consecutives top five finishes at his home track of Scotia Speedworld during Weekly Series competition. Christensen, third in points, was the winner of last weekend’s INEX National Qualifier at Scotia Speedworld and was third in this event last season.
Over two dozen drivers are expected to compete Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway with the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. In addition to Wooldridge, Aiden MacDonald (York, PE) and MacDonald Automotive Rookie Contender Stephen Piccott Jr (Charlottetown, PE) also call Oyster Bed Speedway home. Devin Gallant (Rustico, PE) is also slated to make an appearance Saturday. Gallant is making his season debut and has not competed on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour since 2021.
Extra cash and prize money will be up for grabs at the PiccottCare 50 through various contingency awards, including the EIT Race Radios Heat Races, Surrogate Technology Management Hard Charger Award, Eastern Powder Coating Pole Draw and MacDonald Automotive Rookie of the Race Award.
The next scheduled event for the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour following the PiccottCare 50 is at Riverside International Speedway in James River, Nova Scotia. The Superior Foundations 50 is a part of the IWK 250 Super Race Weekend and takes place on Friday, July 19th. Tickets are available now at RiversideSpeedway.ca.
