Legends driver Drake Wood passed away on Friday, July 5, in a non-motorsports incident, Legends Nation confirmed with his family. The 16-year-old driver from Zionsville, Indiana, was a regular at the Indianapolis Speedrome in Indiana, where he was currently third in the 2024 division championship.
Wood was a graduate of the track’s Adult Faskart Series, before moving up to Legend Cars.
The track has announced this Saturday, July 13, the Legends feature will be 54 laps in his honor, the number he ran on his car. Drivers are asked to line up at the start / finish line for the National Anthem and a moment of silence in his honor. His car will also be a part of the tribute.
