Jeremy Ott Wins East Coast Legend Series Feature Saturday at BAPS Motor Speedway

BAPS Motor Speedway - July 13 2024 - Jeremy Ott

The East Coast Legend Series raced Saturday, July 13, at BAPS Motor Speedway (PA) with Jeremy Ott winning the feature. Read the series race recap below as well as the results.

July 13, 2024 (York Haven, PA)-It is rather simple…never count out Jeremy Ott!

Ott, a two-time Series champion, spent Thursday night in a local hospital after a medical emergency at his employment sent him to the emergency room. Ott was discharged on Friday: then on Saturday, just one day before his birthday, Ott would claim Victory in the East Coast Legend Series event at BAPS Motor Speedway.

The win was Ott’s second Victory of the season. He charged from his fifth-starting position, and would challenge race-leader, Logan Carbaugh, who is beginning to be one of the best in the business in his No. 27 LCR machine.  Carbaugh, who had led every lap from the onset, lost the lead to Ott with three laps remaining. Ott would then assert himself as race leader and hold the spot to claim Victory.

For many, this isn’t the first time that Ott has “laid in waiting” in the second spot, only to make a move late in the going. One could ask Travis Perry, who lost the lead late to Ott at Path Valley a few years back, or just ask Colton Friese, who also lost the lead late to Ott at Lincoln last season. And those are just two of many examples! “The BAPS win came down to being patient and waiting to make my move,” Ott explained. “It worked out. Everything came together. (I’m) not washed up yet,” he added with a laugh.

This isn’t Ott’s first rodeo. He turned 42 last Sunday. A career, which has spanned 24 years (seven in Legends), is a career that has sent him to Victory Lane many times. Saturday’s win by approximating was his 263rd career win, 32 in Legends competition. In addition to the aforementioned Series’ championships, Ott has also enjoyed a National INEX Legends championship. “The Legend Series has a lot of tough competition…it is a great accomplishment when you are driving against a lot of talent,” Ott stated. “I wouldn’t be in Victory Lane without the support, belief and dedication from my teammates. Shawn Groft (car owner) and Shaun Miller put everything into these cars so that I can race,” he added.

The aforementioned Colton Friese slipped by Carbaugh to grab second as the checkers fell. Carbaugh, who many thought was poised for Victory, settled for third. Scott Houdeshell continued his strong season with a fourth-place effort and Seth Kearchner had a strong outing to take fifth. Michael Weber, making the trip from Iowa, made it pay off with a solid sixth. Lincoln Kearchner was impressive in seventh. Logan Jones and Kelby Friese both had solid efforts, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively. Bob Stough, a Series veteran and one of the greats, rounded out the top-10.

Heat winners were Carbaugh, Seth Kearchner, Houdeshell and Weber. Tyler Rampmeyer won the B-Main. The East Coast Series is back in action this weekend with a double-header beginning this Friday, July 19 at Clinton County Speedway. On Saturday, July 20, the Series makes its first-ever visit to Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland.

The Series thanks David H. Martin Excavating, Inc. as its title sponsor. Special thanks to Baker Door Company  for the race sponsorship at BAPS. Also, the Series recognizes Fairfield Auto Service  and NAPA Auto Parts Taneytown for its great support of Legends racing at BAPS.
