Jeremy Ott Claims Victory in the Commonwealth of VA
March 22, 2025 (Winchester, VA)-Forty-six Legends teams from six states invaded Winchester VA Speedway as the East Coast Legend Series made its much-anticipated return to the Virginia Speedway. When the checkers fell on the night, two-time Series champion, Jeremy Ott, claimed the East Coast victory and celebrated his first victory at Winchester.
Six heat races determined the starting line-up for the A-Main as the top-four finishers of each heat automatically transferred. At the drop of the green, Ott grabbed the early lead, and held off hard charges by the father/son duo of Seth and Lincoln Kearchner. The first 15 laps of the event went caution free. A late-race caution bunched the field, and the five remaining laps went all green with Ott grabbing the victory.
Seth Kearchner finished a close second. Defending Series champion, Colton Friese, made a late-race pass to claim third. Lincoln Kearchner, who won the season-opener at Lincoln, claimed fourth, and Logan Jones ran strong to take fifth.
Kelby Friese finished sixth and claimed the $100 bonus given by Tony Dawson to honor his late son, Sean Dawson, who drove car No. 6 in the Series for multiple seasons. Ryan Walls finished seventh. Mike Mohelski took eighth and Justin Cunningham finished ninth. Mike Racine finished 10th as Racine has not finished out of the top-10 in the Series’ first three races of the season.
Heat winners were Travis McClelland, Ott, Jones, Lincoln Kearchner, Walls and Colton Friese.
The remaining 22 drivers who did not make the A-Main competed in a 20-lap non-qualifiers race. Hunter McElroy was declared the winner after the initial first-three finishers did not report to tech following the race. Finishing second to McElroy was rookie points leader Colby Miller. Brian Rampmeyer was third followed by Tracy Linn in fourth. Ezra Burdette rounded out the top-five.
