Luxemburg, WI (May 10th, 2025) – after chasing glory with the Midwest Legends Dirt Series the past year, Hayden Schmuhl finally found the checkered flag first at Luxy Raceway.
The first of many visits at Luxy Raceway for the series, a late addition to the rescheduled season opener meant 12 regulars made the trip up north on the night. The first of many non-points races of the season meant drivers would get a slight preview of the track prior to any points night.
The night started out with two heat races for the MLDS. Ryan Mech picked up the win in heat race one with the story o behind him in second, as Talyn Neuman went last-to-second, while Tim Franz picked up third. Alex Haese grabbed the win in the second heat race, with Hayden Schmuhl hot on his heels, and Carson Grob the third place man.
After a redraw, the feature pulled onto the raceway with Hayden Schmuhl the pole sitter and Tim Franz second. Schmuhl led the field to green, and immediately grew a gap over Ryan Mech, who took over the second place spot immediately. Talyn Neuman pounced on some misfortune from Franz to jump up to third with a yellow. Schmuhl once again led the field to green, and this time, was able to build up a half-second gap to Mech in second. The caution flew one last time on lap thirteen as Cal Swenson found trouble. Mech had one last chance at the lead, but after a strong restart, Hayden Schmuhl was able to hold down the lead and pick up his first MLDS win of his career. Mech and Neuman brought home second and third, with Connor Carey and Carson Grob fourth and fifth.
The MLDS will visit Luxy Raceway once again for a points night on Sunday, June 8th, with a few more races scheduled later in the year as well.
