Pett Returns to Legends Cars 18 Months after Knockhill Injury

Legends Cars Championship - Marcus Pett

Legends Cars Championship (UK) Media Release –

•    Multiple race winner Marcus Pett confirms Legends Cars return

•    Boston driver fully recovered from injury sustained in August 2023

•    Former top four Championship finisher relishing being back on track

Legends Cars Championship front-runner Marcus Pett will make a very welcome return to action during the 2025 season curtain-raiser at Donington Park GP Circuit this coming weekend, 29th/30th March, some 18 months since he suffered a nasty back injury.

Following a successful test of his No.79 car this past weekend, the multiple Legends Cars race winner is elated to be returning to action for the first time since an excursion at Knockhill in Scotland during the BTCC meeting in August 2023.

During the round six Final of the inaugural Legends Cars Elite Cup, Pett experienced a heavy and awkward landing following a trip over the kerbs. After being transferred from the circuit to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Pett had sustained fractured veterbrae and damage to his spinal ligaments.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the seat after a year and a half of watching from the other side of the barriers”, said the Lincolnshire racer, “Hopefully we will settle back in quickly and find the performance and results we had in 2023.

“We took the decision not to rush the return to racing and ensure the fracture was fully healed. I would like to say a special thank you to Dr Simon Johnson, a member of the BTCC medical team, who has been present from the time of injury through to signing me fit to return to the track.”

Pett had been enjoying an excellent 2023 season prior to the accident, winning two races in the Elite Cup – one at Knockhill prior to the injury – and he also won a further four races in his truncated main Championship campaign. Starting that season with a double win at his home track, Cadwell Park, he added another double at the annual American Speedfest event at Brands Hatch.

His first full season of Legends Cars action came in 2018, ending the campaign an impressive eighth in the overall standings, and Pett then went on to achieve a very popular maiden race victory the following year. His best season to date in terms of championship position was a top four finish in 2022, where he again took a race win.

Rounds one and two of the new Legends Cars Championship season, running as support to MSVR’s GT Cup, will take place on Donington Park’s full GP Circuit this coming weekend, 29th/30th March.

Qualifying practice will begin Saturday’s track action at 09.00, with Heat One starting at 12.35, Heat Two following at 14.50 and then the round one Final at 17.40. Round two on Sunday will start with Heat One at 10.10, Heat Two will begin at 13.00 and the Final will follow at 17.40.
