The Dirt Legends of the South Series headed to North Florida Speedway (FL) on Saturday, April 12, for racing action. Winning the feature was Daniel Alvarez with Brett Jenkins and David Furtado rounding out the top three.

It was an awesome night of racing at North Florida Speedway in Lake City, Florida. Heat winners Jared Furtado and Chase Lovelady led the field to green for the first race of the season for the Dirt Legends of the South. The race saw Lovelady and Furtado battle it out for the lead for a brief time until Chase Lovelady settled into a big lead early on.
As the race progressed, caution-free, Colby Jackson, David Furtado, and Brett Jenkins battled hard for second place while simultaneously reeling in Lovelady, the leader. While the leaders battled for the podium spots, the rest of the field, including Shawn Jenkins, Marcus Wong, Brian Crane, Daniel Alvarez, and Jordan Sarr, were all in chase of the top spots, with the entire field staying tight on the lead pack. Pole sitter Jared Furtado suffered a flat tire and retired early from the event.
The finishing order looked set coming to the white flag until a parts failure from Sarr in the 80 caused contact with the outside wall, then collecting Shawn Jenkins in the incident, ending both their nights. Leader Chase Lovelady, who had run a flawless race until that point, also suffered a lone spin, handing the late-race lead to Brett Jenkins. The race came down to a green-white-checkered with Brett Jenkins and Daniel Alvarez bringing the field to the final restart. Daniel Alvarez, who started tail of the field in 10th place, was able to beat Jenkins on the restart, leading the final lap and taking the win.
The official finishing order is as follows: 1st Daniel Alvarez, 2nd Brett Jenkins, 3rd David Furtado, 4th Marcus Wong, 5th Chase Lovelady, 6th Colby Jackson, 7th Brian Crane, 8th Shawn Jenkins, 9th Jordan Sarr, 10th Jared Furtado.
