(BEDFORD, NS – August 10th, 2023) – The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour heads back to Nova Scotia for two races in as many weeks in the Province. First up for the Series is a return engagement at Scotia Speedworld, just outside of Enfield, for the Schooner General Contracting 50. The race is Round Five of 10 on the Series for 2023 and is the second of three visits to the 3/10-mile oval for the year. The Schooner General Contracting 50 is a part of the Summer Clash 250 weekend presented by Superior Foundations and Atlantic Tiltload. Racing begins on Saturday, August 12th at 4pm.
The last two races have seen two first time winners with the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) took the win at Petty International Raceway in the R&D Performancentre 50 while Caden Tufts (Timberlea, NS) was the winner in the only stop to Prince Edward Island in 2023. Tufts took the Island ICF 50 at Oyster Bed Speedway over sophomore Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) and Christensen. The race saw 23 drivers make the haul to Oyster Bed Speedway from all three Maritime Provinces, making it the best attended INEX sanctioned Legend race on the Island since 2017.
With Christensen and Gilby on the podium during the Island ICF 50, they remain on the top of the standings after four races. The gap from Christensen to Gilby is seven points in the advantage of Christensen’s No. 24 car. Thirty points behind Christensen is Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS), who now has Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) just seven points behind after his third straight top five of the season. Of note, Noble was the winner in the Strictly Hydraulics Legends at Scotia Speedworld on August 4th, making him the most recent winner in the division entering the weekend’s competition. Fifth in the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour points is PEI driver Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside), who will once again do double duty this weekend between his family owned Legend ride and the Trevor Lambe Racing No. 28 on the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.
Scotia Speedworld has been the longtime home for US Legend Cars International and INEX sanctioned racing in the Maritimes and with a majority of the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour drivers calling the Halifax area home, this race has significant meaning to a lot of teams. The track hosts weekly racing on Friday nights for both the Legend and Bandolero divisions. Add in that it takes place on the undercard of the Summer Clash 250 presented by Superior Foundations and Atlantic Tiltload, the biggest racing event in Halifax, the Schooner General Contracting 50 carries a lot of prestige for Tour teams and hometown favorites alike.
Like the Tour, Christensen leads Gilby in the local Strictly Hydraulics Legends division standings at Scotia Speedworld. Noble is third in the Friday night program with Josh and his brother Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) completing the top five in points. In the aforementioned August 4th feature at the track, Noble and Christensen were joined by a fellow rookie in Chase Livingston (Springhill, NS) on the podium. Livingston led a majority of last Friday’s program before setting for third.
Several of the rookies on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour in 2023 cut their teeth racing in Bandoleros at Scotia Speedworld. In addition to Christensen, Noble, Tufts and Livingston, Chase MacKay (Bear Cove) began his career racing Bandoleros in Halifax. Aiden MacDonald (York, PE) is also a graduate of the Bandolero program at his home track of Oyster Bed Speedway while Jason and Chase Roberts (Merigomish, NS) came along slightly after the Bandolero program was introduced to Atlantic Canada.
Eighteen drivers have competed in all four Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour events in 2023 with six of those being eligible for the Cross Roads Rookie of the Year Award. A total of 36 teams have competed in at least one of the first four races of the 2023 season.

The second half of the 2023 Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour kicks off next Saturday, August 19th as the Series makes its second and final appearance at Riverside International Speedway for the season. The 50-lap feature is the sixth of ten races on the 2023 season. Tickets are now on sale for the event at RiversideSpeedway.ca.
