Jeremy Doss Drives to Stockton 99 Speedway Victory on Wednesday

Stockton 99 Speedway - July 3 2024 - Jeremy Doss

Legends were a part of the Wednesday, July 3, racing action in California at the Stockton 99 Speedway. In the feature, Jeremy Doss drove to the win over Brenden Ruzbarsky and Kayci Phillips. Read the race recap below written by Noah Reed (Legends portion extracted for posting on LN).

This 15 car field of the best legends drivers on the West Coast put on an incredible show. The 40 lap main event featured a head to head battle between Upper Lake’s Jeremy Doss and Brendan Ruzbarsky of Tracy.

The duo battled side by side, nose to tail, for lap after lap. They traded the lead amongst themselves over a dozen times on the track. Both drivers started outside of the top five as a result of a ten car invert after time trials. Clayton Travels from Lodi started on pole and led for 3 laps before Donnie Darter of Valley Springs took the top spot. Then just 7 laps later, Doss drag raced Darter back to the line to lead his first lap of the night.

Ruzbarsky would get around second and he closed the gap on the race leader. After several cautions, each driver would manage to get the jump and lead for a couple of laps before the other would get by. But, on a restart with 15 to go, Doss was able to find something that gave him the edge. He hooked the top side on every following restart and was able to hold off the attacks from Ruzbarsky.

Doss put his JD Industry Legend back in victory lane yet again in 2024 while Ruzbarsky expanded his streak of the most top fives without a checkered flag. “I was really giving it my all out there,” said Ruzbarsky after coming up short once again. “We had a great car and just messed up those last couple of restarts when we went single file,” he explained.

Kayci Phillips rebounded from a hard crash back on May 25th to finish on the podium. Travels and David Shelly of Sacramento made up the top five. Despite a number of spins, Enriquez came home sixth. Salida native Trent Hutchinson was seventh while Elk Grove native Tyler Batzianis finished eight. Cameron Hutchinson also from Salida and Donnie Darter rounded out the top ten finishers.
