Series PR –
April 19, 2025 (Spring Run, PA)-Cloudy skies and threatening rain showers lay over Path Valley Speedway Saturday, but Devin Friese proved to be the bright beacon of light as he won his heat, started the feature on the pole and led every lap to claim his first David H. Martin Excavating, Inc. East Coast Legend Series Victory of the season.
Thirty-six (36) cars entered the night’s event and competed in four heats and one B-Main to determine the 24-car starting line-up. Friese shared the front starting row of the A-Main with Ryan Walls, who likewise won his heat earlier in the night. As the green dropped, Friese quickly took the lead. Colton Friese moved by Walls and was running second as the completion of the first circuit.
By lap five, Logan Carbaugh and Logan Jones had moved by Walls, relegating Walls back to the fifth spot as Devin and Colton Friese continued to occupy the first-two spots. At the halfway mark, Carbaugh had moved past Colton Friese for second and had set his sights on Devin Friese for the top spot.
Throughout the event, Devin Friese and Logan Carbaugh played the “accordion effect” as Carbaugh could seemingly reel in Friese at times only to slip back. This effect occurred between the duo multiple times before Devin Friese grabbed the checkers and the Victory.
Carbaugh, who won earlier in the year at Winchester, took the runner-up spot. Colton Friese held a strong run throughout the night and finished third. Jeremy Ott battled Tanner Jones, who was substitute driving for Seth Kearchner, throughout much of the event. At the checkers, Ott claimed fourth and Jones was fifth.
Scott Houdeshell started the event 16th and ran strong to finish sixth to claim the $40 Hard Charger Award sponsored by Dr. Zach Crouse. Kelby Friese had a strong run to claim seventh. Dave Benner impressed the field in his 1200-powered car to take eighth. Tim Hahn, making his first start of the season, claimed eighth and Donald Stoudt rounded out the top-10 after coming back from a two-week absence.
Ott, Colton Friese, Walls and Devin Friese won the heat races earlier in the night. Scott Musselman won the B-Main.
Logan Jones received the $25 Hard Luck Award from Dr. Zach Crouse. Jones ran in the top-five for most of the night, but an incident in turn four on lap 16 relegated Jones to the rear of the field, and he ultimately finished 22nd. Kayleigh Linn was the only rookie of the 10 rookies entered to qualify for the A-Main and finished 20th.
The East Coast Series will compete in its first double-header of the season this coming weekend as it makes its first trip to Linda’s Speedway on Friday, and its third visit to Winchester Speedway on Saturday.
