Operation BBQ Relief (OBR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in May 2011 in response to a need for tornado relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri, has mobilized and is assisting those in Maui, Hawaii, that have been affected by the devastating wildfires that recently swept over the island.
Armed with a caravan of cooks, mobile pits, kitchens and volunteers, Operation BBQ Relief delivers the healing power of BBQ in times of need, feeding first responders and communities affected by natural disasters along with year-round efforts to fight hunger through The Always Serving Project® and Camp OBR™ programs.
As of Tuesday afternoon (August 15, 2023), OBR, with their volunteers and partners, have provided 2300 hot meals to survivors, first responders, and relief workers in Maui.
Legends Nation’s owner Jason “Stix” Buckley has had a working relationship with OBR for years, and LN is now helping to promote their efforts.
“I met Stan Hays and the Operation BBQ Relief group back in 2016 when I was working with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, Ben Rhodes,” said Buckley. “Stan and I have stayed in contact as I fully support what OBR does. They are closing in on 11 million meals served which is amazing, and that is why I have decided to use Legends Nation to help OBR help those in Maui and across all Hawaii during this horrific disaster.”
Those that wish to donate to OBR to help feed those affected by the tragedy in Maui can visit the GoFundMe page by clicking here. Additional methods to donate for this or other disaster relief efforts can be found on the OBR Facebook page here, or website at obr.org / operationbbqrelief.org.
