Friese and Jones Split East Coast Legend Series Victories Saturday at Path Valley Speedway

Path Valley Speedway - East Coast Legend Series - June 1 2024 - Racing Action

The East Coast Legend Series returned to Path Valley Speedway (PA) on Saturday, June 1, for a make-up feature and a scheduled feature. Colton Friese and Tanner Jones split feature victories. A story from Judy McGee Timmons is below as well as results from the track (Legends portion from story extracted for posting on LN).

The activities began with the Zachary Crouse DVM INC. Legend Car feature from April 27th. Logan Jones had a bad start when he had a pre-lap incident putting his racer around the ring into the turn one infield, rejoining the original lineup as Mike Kelley & Devin Friese brought the racers to the green. Friese led one lap, then left the oval, putting Bill Diehl at the front with Tanner Jones, Colton Friese, Logan Carbaugh & Scott Montgomery in the top five. Jones took the lead on lap 4 but Colton Friese was making his way to the front, when a caution for Dalton Friese & Scott Musselman put the line-up front to back with Jones maintaining the lead. Mike Perkins got his racer into the turn 4 infield with 9 laps complete, returning, returning to the rear of the field. The reline was Jones, Colton Friese, Logan Carbaugh, Bill Deihl, & Mike Kelley for the top five , where they remained for the next 11 laps. Unfortunately, the winner was disqualified, giving Colton Friese the win and moving Mike Kelley into the top five spot. Devin Friese had the best speed lap racing at 67.593 MPH in 13.315 seconds.

The Zachary Crouse DMV Inc. Legend Cars Series ran their second feature of the evening, with Chris Transeau and Tanner Jones at the helm of the full field of 24 racers ready for action. Jones led on the first lap with Transeau, Grady McGrew, & Devin Friese in pursuit.  Mike Racine pulled into the top five spot before a caution flag was waved for Ron Dick Jr, Don Stoudt & Kirk Martin, with Martin entering the pit area & Dick and Stoudt going to the rear. The top five continued in the same order for 5 laps before Devin Friese passed Transeau to take second place on lap six.  Eight laps were remaining when fifth place runner, Mike Racine, spun out on the backstretch, putting him to the rear of the restart.  Jones held the lead to the finish, with Devin Friese taking second, Scott  Houdeshell, coming from 11th starting  spot to claim third place, & Ryan Walls collecting 4th place after starting  14th, and Chris Transeau finishing in the top five.
